Belz-Burrow Announces Addition to Porter Commons

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (November 18, 1998) While addressing the Leadership Institute of Blytheville, Jack Belz, president and CEO of Belz Enterprises in Memphis, was joined by Bruce Burrow, president of the Jonesboro-based Belz-Burrow, in announcing an update of the Porter Commons Shopping Center.
Porter Commons is located at Interstate 55 and Highway 18 in Blytheville. It is currently the largest shopping center to be built in Blytheville. When phase I of Porter Commons is complete, it will offer over 300,000 square feet of retail space in unequaled accessibility, visibility and potential.
Belz stated, “While I am here in Blytheville, I want to take the opportunity to give an update on the Porter Commons Shopping Center. I believe most of you know the current construction at Porter Commons is for a Wal-Mart Supercenter. This will be one of three Wal-Mart Supercenters in Northeast Arkansas that Belz-Burrow has developed.”
The Wal-Mart Supercenter, one of the anchors of Porter Commons Shopping Center, is scheduled to open in Spring of 1999 and will contain over 187,000 square feet of retail space. Final negotiations are underway for a 35,000 square foot department store, two restaurants and other retail stores. In addition, Porter Commons will offer 30,000 square feet of office space.
Belz added, “Soon, we will be able to announce other retail stores that will locate in Porter Commons. Since there has been such a great demand for leasing space, we are proud to announce that Belz-Burrow has purchased an additional 20 acres to expand Porter Commons.”
Currently, Porter Commons in the largest shopping center to be built in Blytheville. With the development of the additional 20 acres of property, Porter Commons will be the largest shopping center in Northeast Arkansas.
Bruce Burrow noted, “We want to thank Mrs. Robert Porter for her generous help with this project. She has been instrumental in this development and has a vision for the future of Blytheville.”
Burrow continued, “We also want to say a word of gratitude to Bo Huffman and Ron Dawson of Farmers Bank of Blytheville whose tireless efforts have made the Porter Commons Shopping Center a reality.”
Belz-Burrow has more than 80 years combined experience in shopping center development and specializes in the development and acquisition of retail and shopping center properties.
