Capitalizing on economic advantages of North
Memphis
The employees of H.B. Fuller
know the advantages of doing business in North
Memphis. In fact, they've got the numbers to
prove it.
During the last five years, the
Memphis location of the international chemical
giant has tripled its workload and dramatically
increased productivity to become the company's
most productive plant in North America.
Specializing in the manufacture
of water-based adhesives for cardboard packaging,
envelopes and the automotive industry, H.B.
Fuller's Memphis location produced 27 million
pounds of product in 1998, compared to 18 million
pounds in 1995.
"Although many factors
contribute to our successful operation in
Memphis, the accessibility and low cost of
operating in North Memphis are major factors in
the cost reductions and increased efficiency
we've achieved," said Todd Trushenski,
facility manager of H.B. Fuller's Memphis
location. "We also have a strong base of
loyal employees committed to their jobs and the
success of H.B. Fuller."
It is these loyal employees
that have supported the company throughout its
40-year history at North Memphis Industrial Park.
Of the employees working for
H.B. Fuller today, more than half have been with
the company more than 20 years.
Trushenski also cites the
logistical advantages of North Memphis as a
driving force behind the company's success. From
its 802 Royal Avenue location, the company is
only one mile from I-240/I-40, and is located
just off Highway 51 (Thomas Street).
