MEMPHIS, Tenn. (June 20, 1997) – Belz Factory Outlet World joins hands with the Greater Las Vegas Inner-City Games as a corporate cheerleader sponsor to offer youth a fun, positive alliterative to gangs, drugs and violence in inner-city Las Vegas. The program offers a unique experience for youth, which do not traditionally have the opportunity to participate through sporting events and educational programs including the Art & Writing Contest, the Junior Broadcaster Program, and the Youth Ambassador program.

The winners of the year’s Art & Writing contest will have their work displayed in both food court areas at the Belz Factory Outlet World from July 7 – 18. The theme for this year’s Art & Writing contest was "Who am I?" The top three winners were selected from elementary, middle and high school divisions. Contest winners received $100 to $1000 scholarships and the opportunity to write as a junior journalist for the Las Vegas Sun.

Originally opened in November 1994, Belz Factory Outlet World doubled in size in October 1996, with a 250,000 sq. ft. addition, giving the mall a total of 600,000 sq. ft. of factory outlet shopping.
