FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BELZ ENTERPRISES BRINGS "SICO"
THE ROBOT TO THE RONALD McDONALD HOUSE AND ARNOLD PALMER HOSPITAL
Orlando, Florida (July 21, 2000) -- Belz Enterprises will bring SICO (pronounced
SE-CO), the world's only robot who has a membership in the Screen Actor's
Guild and has visited The White House, to The Ronald McDonald House, 2201
Alden Road, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and Arnold Palmer Hospital, 92
West Miller Avenue, from 2:00 p.m. -
4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25th.
"Bringing SICO to a local hospital and care center is our way of
giving back to the community" says Andrew J. Groveman, President
of the Belz Factory Outlet Division.
The Ronald McDonald House of Orlando is a not-for-profit organization
that provides a "home-away-from-home" for families with children
receiving medical treatment at local hospitals in Orlando.
For more than a decade, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women
has been healing women and children from Central Florida and around the
world with care, compassion and leading-edge medical care.
In addition, SICO will appear at Belz Factory Outlet World, 5401 West
Oakridge Road on July 26th, from 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.. There, shoppers
can meet and interact with the robot. Shoppers can also bring their cameras
to take a picture with SICO as a souvenir.
On Wednesday, July 26th SICO will also be attending the "Tourism
Leisure and Entertainment Conference," which will present topics
ranging from the world of entertainment to the "way to a shopper's
heart" at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel from 12:00 noon - 1:30 p.m. While
there, SICO will be assisting keynote speaker Andrew J. Groveman, President
of the Factory Outlet Division of Belz Enterprises as he talks about entertainment
in retail. This is the first ever ICSC Tourism, Leisure and Entertainment
event. For registration information, call (212) 421-8181, or register
at
the door.
A product of International Robotics, Inc., SICO possesses the most sophisticated
robot communication technology in the world. Because of a new technology
called a "microprocessor controlled guidance system," SICO can
respond "spontaneously" to conversation, seemingly without assistance
from any operators. With his ability to adjust his speech, mannerism and
behavior to fit any age, social level or environment, SICO creates a tremendous
impact wherever he goes.
SICO stands six feet tall and has a body that is especially well animated
for a very life like presentation. He can also speak up to seven languages,
serve food and drinks, and even dance -- talents that have landed SICO
appearances on numerous television shows, including the soap opera "Days
of Our Lives," where he was a cast member for more than a year and
won a Special Performance Award. He also appeared in the movie "Rocky
IV." Shoppers love SICO and Belz is happy to provide him for their
entertainment.
