A TEXAS-STYLE TASTE OF BRAZIL COMES TO DOWNTOWN
Texas de Brazil to Open as part of the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Tuesday, April 26, 2002 – The Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center is bringing yet another distinctive eatery to the downtown scene. Texas de Brazil, opening in the Entertainment and Retail Center in June, will serve up hearty specialties from the plains of Brazil's legendary cattle country with a Texas-size flair.

The concept for the restaurant is derived from the traditions of the Gaucho cowboys of the Rio Grande da Sul, who would prepare a feast for their families of roasted meats cooked over a large pit. Seasonal greens and vegetable dishes using native ingredients were also a part of the meal, as well as rice and beans, and fruits of the region. The Guachos presented the best of their bounty to the families of the region, personally carving the roasted meats, which was considered a show of great skill and festive gift giving.

Texas de Brazil continues this tradition with a Texas-size buffet of the bounty of the season complete with rotisserie-roasted meats carved right at your table, side dishes and desserts.

Appetizers, salads, house-baked Brazilian cheese bread, certified Angus beef, pork, chicken and Brazilian sausage are all part of the restaurant’s fare, along with fried bananas and signature cocktails.

The 8,000-square-foot restaurant will be located on the street level on Second Street and is part of the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center. The new Memphis restaurant is the first out-of-state location for Dallas-based Texas de Brazil.

Texas de Brazil joins a host of new, fun and distinctly different restaurants that have come to downtown Memphis with the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center including Dan McGuinness Irish Pub, Puccini and Pasta, Isaac Hayes and Jillian's.

"We're pleased to welcome Texas de Brazil to our Peabody Place family as another one-of-a-kind restaurant in Memphis, that can only be found at the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center downtown," said Andrew J. Groveman, senior vice president, Belz Enterprises, developers of Peabody Place.
