PEABODY PLACE ENTERTAINMENT AND RETAIL CENTER DONATES "COINS IN THE FOUNTAIN" TO ST. JUDE CHILDREN'S RESEARCH HOSPITAL
CEO Jack Belz Presents Check for More Than $2,500 to St. Jude

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Tuesday, May 14, 2002 – The Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center puts a Memphis twist on the Italian tradition of tossing coins into Trevi fountain and making a wish. Thanks to Jack Belz, chairman and CEO of Belz Enterprises, developers of Peabody Place, and visitors to the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center, children at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital recently received a boost in helping make their wishes come true.

The unique streetscape design of the 300,000-square-foot Entertainment and Retail Center includes a large fountain, into which visitors have been tossing coins and making wishes since the complex opened last September. Workers recently gathered the coins from the fountain collecting more than $2,500.

Belz recently presented a check to Sarah Hackett, regional development officer for St. Jude, for $2,547.41, the amount of the coins collected from the Entertainment and Retail Center fountain.

"St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a Memphis institution and a nationally recognized leader in the care and treatment of catastrophic illnesses in children. It is our pleasure and privilege to present this check to St. Jude to help benefit the lives of the children and families in their care," Belz said.

"We think it's fabulous that Mr. Belz and Peabody Place have found such a unique way to donate to charity. We're excited to be the first recipient and are thrilled to receive the donation," Hackett said.

Coins from the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center fountain will continue to be collected periodically, with the proceeds donated to Memphis-area charities, according to Andrew J. Groveman, senior vice president, Belz Enterprises.
