Slated to perform just at the edge of the trolley tracks at Peabody Place and Main Street, Cal Hollow will bring their edgy pop sound to the next installment of the FM-100 Future Stars Showcase a free concert for the public beginning at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 20. Basking in the success of their debut album, "Two Bulb Twilight," Cal Hollow is experiencing rapid success breaking into Americas top radio markets. In Memphis, for example, FM-100 has been featuring the bands top single, "No Mercy," since mid-June. Comprised of an eclectic mix of musicians from diverse backgrounds, Cal Hollows self-described style is "a hybrid sound of edgy, eccentric pop rock inflected with both a hint of Americana and the type of intelligent songwriting normally associated with Elvis Costello." Cal Hollow is the summers second "Future Star" concert at Peabody Place. Sponsored by Belz Enterprises, Budweiser, the Center City Commission, FM-100 and The Memphis Flyer, the "Future Star" concerts introduce Memphis to up-and-coming musicians identified by national talent agencies as the industrys rising stars. Memphis band Tumblin Sneakers, led by drummer Joel Hobson, will kick off the concert at 5:30 p.m. The six-member, pop-rock cover band will feature songs by bands ranging from the Beatles to Matchbox 20 as well as original music from their new CD. Cal Hollow will perform immediately after Tumblin Sneakers. In the event of rain, this concert will be held at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 21. Developed by Memphis-based Belz Enterprises, Peabody Place is an urban mixed-use development located in downtown Memphis. When completed, the project will contain approximately two million square feet of space with 762 hotel rooms, 201 apartments, 565,000 square feet of office space, 420,000 square feet of retail space and 3,600 parking spaces. Peabody Place consists of new construction as well as the reconstruction of structures listed on the National Register of Historical Places. |
