Hosts Families With Children From China
2001 Christmas Party

MEMPHIS, Tenn., December 7, 2001 – Families With Children From China are gathering at Peabody Place Museum on Saturday morning to begin their celebration of the Christmas Holiday Season.

These area families have organized to provide both group support and a cultural link for the adopted children with their Chinese heritage and friends. Gathering for a Christmas party at Peabody Place Museum is a natural connection with Chinese history and Asian fine art.

Approximately two-dozen preschool children are expected to attend this annual holiday event complete with pot-luck offerings from each family at noon and a tour of Peabody Place Museum.

Peabody Place Museum is located at 119 South Main Street offering year-round educational programs and group tour packages. The Museum blends ancient history and beauty showcasing an extensive fine art collection that includes Chinese jade sculptures, intricate ivory carvings, delicate porcelain, cloisonné, and imperial textiles.

In addition, there is a world-class grouping of Japanese artistic objects, Italian mosaics, modern glass, magnificent Judaica, scholar rocks, mineral specimens, pre-historic fossils, and beautiful Russian lacquer boxes – each one lovelier than the next – that will take your breath away.

Museum hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, Noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $4.50 for senior citizens, and $4 for students.
