Breckenridge Brewery and Pub
Makes a Splash at Peabody Place

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (June 10, 1997) – Breckenridge Brewery and Pub, Belz Enterprises newest addition to Peabody Place, has enjoyed enormous success since its opening on May 6, 1997.

Located at 145 South Main Street in the Peabody Place Historic Block, the restaurant offers an upscale yet casual dining experience with a full menu designed to complement the fresh, hand-crafted beers that are brewed on-site. It offers Memphis a product and atmosphere that is unique in the metropolitan area; an open air environment enables guests to see tanks where the brewing and aging process takes place. Adding to its uniqueness, an upstairs lounge allows customers to relax on leather sofas and chairs while enjoying their favorite cigars and martinis.

According to Krisahn Gren, director of marketing, Breckenridge Brewery, "Breckenridge Brewery is excited to open its sixth brew pub in Memphis. We look forward to growing with the city and assisting in the revitalization of downtown. The uniqueness of our brew pub is definitely a great attraction for many people." Gren also stated that, " Breckenridge Brewery is very proud of what we’ve created in Memphis. We feel we have succeeded in maintaining the integrity of the Old Majestic Theater while adding a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. The ceiling and walls reflect a classic antique style and blend with the open air environment. All of this combined has created a beautiful building, a wonderful atmosphere, and a very unique location in downtown Memphis."

In addition to Memphis, Breckenridge Brewery has locations in Breckenridge and Denver, Colo., Buffalo, N.Y., Birmingham, Ala. and Tucson, Ariz. Breckenridge also has three breweries that bottle and keg its beer for distribution in approximately 33 states, including Tennessee.

Breckenridge Brewery and Restaurant serves four main beers: Avalanche Ale, Mountain Wheat, India Pale Ale and Oatmeal Stout. The brewery also features rotating specialty and seasonal beers and will host regular Brew Bashes for their kick-offs. Happy hours are daily. With different lunch and dinner menus, the brewery will provide unique pub fare while featuring many of Memphis’ favorite foods. Kitchen hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. weekdays, and 11 a.m. to midnight weekends. Bar hours are 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. weekends.

Breckenridge Brewery occupies space in the former Majestic Theater and is the second restaurant to open in the Peabody Place Historic Block. The Majestic is the only surviving member of five theaters and movie houses that once stood in the Gayoso-Peabody historic district. It boasts one of only two examples of fully restored poly-chromed terra cotta facades in Memphis.

Peabody Place is the largest mixed-use development currently underway in the country. The first residential component of Peabody Place, The Gayoso House Apartments, opened in March 1995. Other components include: 50 Peabody Place, which houses office space and street-level retail shops; Pembroke Square, with space available for office and retail and the Grand Lobby of The Gayoso House. Next door to the Grand Lobby is Ciao Baby Cucina, an Italian Mediterranean Trattoria, which has enjoyed great success since its opening in

February 1996. The Tower at Peabody Place, a 15-story Class A office building, is scheduled to open in June 1997. The Flying Saucer, a beer emporium, will open May 1, and City Grocery, a specialty grocery store, will open in summer 1997. Belz Enterprises recently announced plans to build Muvico Theaters, featuring 23 movie auditoriums plus an IMAX® 3D with IMAX® PSE (Personal Sound Environment) Theater in the Peabody Place Retail and Entertainment Center. Muvico Peabody Place is scheduled to open in late 1998.
