Fun, Food and Fashion Main Feature of Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center

A growing list of entertainment, dining and shopping venues will complement the high-profile tenants preparing to open in the 300,000-square-foot Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center, currently under construction in downtown Memphis.

Already open is Jillian's, a multidimensional food and entertainment complex, and soon-to-open is The Muvico Peabody Place 22 Theater. Both facilities represent the high-quality entertainment and retail venues that Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center will offer.

“Downtown is definitely back. And Belz is leading the way with the development and opening of the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center,” says Andrew J. Groveman, senior vice president, Belz Enterprises. “In keeping with our tag line—Come Downtown and Play—we’re looking forward to offering everyone a wide range of new and exciting entertainment, dining and shopping options in the downtown area.”

Jillian's, the first establishment to open in the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail center, includes a sports video café, dance club, bowling alley, pool tables, and more than 150 electronic simulation games.

Muvico will open June 15 in a unique viewing environment designed to recall the storied days of Victorian train transportation. Day care services staffed by certified teachers, upscale food offerings such as quesadillas and popcorn shrimp and a wide variety of cinema offerings will be featured. In addition to 21 traditionally sized, stadium-seated screens, there will also be a twenty-second screen that will be six stories tall in order to provide viewers with unique viewing opportunities.

Noted restaurateur Piero Filpi, owner of Mezzanotte in Miami, Florida, will bring his sophisticated Italian dishes to Memphis, along with the beat and flair of Miami’s South Beach. Menu items will include everything from pizza, salads, soups and pastas to veal, sirloin, fish and chicken dishes.

Dan McGuinness Pub, the first of its kind in the Mid-South, painstakingly recreates the décor, music, food and drinks — even the Irish hospitality — of an authentic Dublin pub. Built from the ground up in Ireland, the interior was shipped to Memphis in pieces, where Irish craftsmen brought the pub to life in the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center.

Mrs. Field's Bakery Café, a new concept for the well-known cookie company, will pair with PretzelMaker and TCBY to offer a full complement of fresh-from-the-oven cookies and brownies, hand-rolled pretzels and a complete line of frozen yogurt and smoothies.

For a special treat, visitors will be able to grab a cup of java from Starbucks Coffee or enjoy an ice cream cone from Cold Stone Creamery. And Rocky Mountain Chocolate will offer a variety of homemade fudges and other treats.

Catering to hungry families, A&W® All American Food will feature a full menu of burgers, hot dogs, chili dogs and other all-American fare. The nation's oldest restaurant chain, A&W® All American Food will also offer its famous draft root beer and root beer floats.

On the retail side of the equation, the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center will offer fashion-conscious patrons a variety of trendy shops.

Ann Taylor Loft extends the Ann Taylor brand of refined fashion and sensibility to women with a more relaxed lifestyle at moderate prices. In addition, Gap and Gap Kids will bring their popular, upbeat and youthful style to shoppers.

Claire's, the leading mall-based retailer of popular-priced preteen and teen accessories, will bring its successful concept to downtown Memphis. Hot Topic, which specializes in apparel, gifts and music for teenagers, will offer merchandise that reflects a variety of music-related lifestyles.

Another specialty shop opening soon is Colorado-based Breaking the Mold, which manufactures and sells unique, handmade scented candles.

The Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center is part of Belz Enterprises' Peabody Place development. When completed, the entire development will contain approximately two million square feet of space, including 762 hotel rooms, 201 apartments, 565,000 square feet of office space, 420,000 square feet of retail space and 3,000 parking spaces. Peabody Place is the largest mixed-use urban development currently being built in the United States.
