Belz Factory Outlet World - Puerto Rico Sees Surge in New Leases As current tenants of Belz Factory Outlet World – Puerto Rico see a surge in sales and traffic, new companies are lining up to open stores at the center. Many retailers recognize that the property is uniquely positioned to take advantage of the island’s booming tourist trade. Its location next to Route 66, a major highway scheduled to open in November, 2005, ensures the already popular stores will see even more shoppers. The new highway will even include an exit to the mall. In addition, the property is just minutes away from Puerto Rico’s major tourism hubs and high-end resorts such as Westin Rio Mar, Wyndham El Conquistador and Paradisus Puerto Rico. Earlier this year, three new tenants opened in the shopping center. Curves for Women, a 1,800-square-foot fitness and weight loss facility, opened in February. In March, Coiffure Beauty Salon and Spa opened a 1,450-square-foot facility offering full-service hair, color, manicure, spa and massage services. BCBG, a popular retailer known for trendy and affordable fashions, opened in April in 3,340 square feet of space. Because of a high demand for its services, the mall’s United States Postal Service facility, which opened last summer, is doubling the size of its space to 7,500 square feet. Belz Factory Outlet World – Puerto Rico also has a number of new tenants that recently signed leases. Calvin Klein will open a 4,235- square-foot store this summer and Game Stop will offer video games and technology in 2,280 square feet of space. Additionally, several banks bought outparcels on the west side of the mall facing Route 66. Oriental Bank & Trust, Western Bank, and Doral Bank will each build new, 4,000-square-foot service centers.
