For Lance Fair, Belz is a 'Good Place to Be'

When asked about his position with Belz, Lance uses one word – “grateful.”

“I’m grateful for the good opportunity, it’s a good place to be,” said Lance. “The diversity of Belz’s assets and the diverse opportunity to work on a variety of projects make each day different and exciting.”

As a support figure for management, Lance, a native of West Memphis, Arkansas, has had his hands in many of the projects Belz has developed within the last five years.

He is currently working on the financing for the expansion of The Peabody Orlando Hotel and he is involved in the ongoing financing and development of Uptown, a mixed-use housing development in Memphis, to name a few. He also has been very active in the last few years helping secure low-interest financing on Belz’s projects.

His financial experience allows him to work with a team that handles financial analysis and strategic partnerships.

For example, Lance’s work on Uptown, which is a partnership between Belz, Henry Turley and the City of Memphis, included helping finance the $10 million infrastructure program that is currently underway in the revitalized community north of downtown Memphis.

The new trees, streetlights, park benches, and general makeover of the area have helped to foster a sense of community within Uptown, something its present and future residents can all enjoy.

Prior to his position at Belz, Lance’s career has included a position with an investment banking firm as well as serving as CFO for two different operating companies.

In his professional as well as his personal life, Lance strives to follow in his well-known father’s footsteps to make Memphis a better place. His father, Morris Fair, was appointed to the Shelby County Board of Commissioners and was re-elected in the general election in 1998.

In 2003, he also was appointed by Governor Bredesen to the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Lottery start up. “I am most proud that the Tennessee legislature passed a resolution after my father died, renaming the Walnut Grove bridge over I-240 the Morris H. Fair Memorial Bridge,” Lance said.

Lance and his wife Karen, who met at the University of Arkansas, have been married for 18 years. They have three children; Lauren, 13, Courtney, 11, and Fletcher, 8.

Lance’s hobbies include playing golf and music, such as the piano and the guitar. He also enjoys bike riding and hanging out at Greers Ferry Lake in Heber Springs, Arkansas.
