Belz-Burrow Donates $25,000 to
Greater Jonesboro Education Foundation

JONESBORO, Arkansas, May 13, 1998 – Belz-Burrow, the Jonesboro/Memphis-based developer, donated $25,000 Wednesday to the Greater Jonesboro Education Fund, endowing a 10-year Belz-Burrow Grant in honor of Westside Elementary School and its supporters.

Jack Belz, chairman and chief executive officer of Belz Enterprises; Andy Groveman, Belz Enterprises’ senior vice president of marketing and administration; and Bruce Burrow, president of Belz-Burrow, announced the endowment during the grand opening of the company’s new offices in the First Bank Building.

"Belz-Burrow is excited about the tremendous job the Education Foundation is doing in the community, and we want to be a part of their work," Groveman said. "There is no greater investment than in the education of our children. The teachers in Craighead County should be commended for the innovative teaching techniques they are bringing to the children through these grants. Belz-Burrow is honored to make this gift."

Since 1992, the Greater Jonesboro Education Foundation has enriched educational academic opportunities in the six public school districts by providing $500 grants to teachers for innovative classroom projects. The organization has awarded some 200 grants totaling more than $100,000. Grants are awarded each semester.

Dr. Gil Fowler, president of the foundation, said the grants are able to provide creative and challenging environments for the classrooms. Fowler said the Belz-Burrow Education Grant allows the foundation to continue its two-year-old, $2,500 science technology grant. This grant, given annually, is for grades seven through 12 and allows the teacher to purchase equipment or expand science programs to give students a more valuable learning experience.

"We are very grateful for this generous gift," Fowler said. "In many cases, budgets only allow for the necessities to teach. The foundation wants teachers to dream and work to enhance or children’s education. And, with this donation, we’ll continue to be able to make these dreams come true."

Belz-Burrow has more than 80 years of combined experience in shopping center development and specializes in the development and acquisition of retail and shopping center properties.
