Attracted
by growth of North Memphis
For I-240 commuters stuck in a
maze of trucks near Memphis International
Airport, it may seem as if the Mid-South's
transportation boom has its heart at the airport.
But for many businesses, North Memphis is rapidly
becoming a strong logistical option.
Knox Trucking is a prime
example. Last May, Knox Trucking moved its
operations to North Memphis Industrial Park from
the airport corridor to capitalize on the
economic and logistical strengths of North
Memphis' renaissance.
"This area is growing very
fast," said Rosa Knox, co-owner of Knox
Trucking. "I feel we got in on the front end
of a new development and it's an excellent area
for industrial growth."
According to Knox, the park
provides more detached buildings, is less crowded
and allows additional security options not
available at other industrial parks.
Knox said business has grown
substantially since the company moved to its
location at 655 Huron Avenue. As a result, the
company has leased an additional building in the
industrial park to handle increased shipping,
warehousing and delivery requests. The new
12,755-square-foot facility is located at 743
Corrine Avenue.
Founded in 1972 by James and
Rosa Knox, Knox Trucking specializes in Memphis
to New York shipping, warehousing and deliveries.
Knox Trucking clients include Coors, General
Tire, Day Break and Packaging Corporation of
America. The company averages 85 trips and 60
deliveries a month.
