& S Tire Location is proving to be a strong factor for businesses moving to the North Memphis Industrial Park. S & S Tire is one company that has benefited substantially from the park's central location. According to S & S manager Keith Griffin, "Business is wonder-ful and it's turning out to be a banner year." Griffin attributes a portion of this success to the accessibility of the company's location at 730 Huron Avenue. "Accessibility to this location has been very beneficial to us," Griffin said. "The central location means we are close to all of our local customers and all the major interstates." Other key advantages include size and high-level security. While S & S Tire already occupies several thousand square feet, the openness of the large industrial park gives S&S the opportunity to expand. S & S Tire is the largest reseller of Firestone/Bridgestone tires in the world. Other brands sold by the company include Goodyear, Michelin and Cooper Tires. Besides its Memphis location, S & S Tire can be found in Lexington, Kentucky (the company's home office); Nashville; Knoxville; Birmingham, Alabama; Huntington, West Virginia; and Galax, Virginia. The company opened its doors in Memphis in 1991 after the old Firestone plant closed. S & S Tire's 30 full-time employees run four local delivery routes four times a day as well as five out-of-state delivery routes. |
