Auto-San, Inc.
Serving Regions Across the Country from North Memphis

The marked success and explosive growth of Auto-San, Inc. led them to North Memphis Industrial Park, which in turn has made the company a bigger success today. While North Memphis Industrial Park offers many benefits, one of the biggest, as far as Auto-San is concerned, is that it is just seconds from its main supplier, Precision Plastics.

Auto-San, Inc. specializes in the control of restroom malodors through the use of automatic drip machines that continually dispense cleansers, which inhibit the formation of odor-causing matter. In addition, the company has developed supplementary products that aid businesses in reducing the cost of restroom maintenance.

Purchased in 1993 by Joy and John Doggett, Automatic Sani-tation was intended as a Christian mission to provide part-time work for seminary students. In just one year the business has grown from producing 1,100 automatic drip machines in the Memphis market to more than 5,000 annually.

The success of Automatic Sanitation sparked an expansion into other Tennessee markets, as well as Atlanta and Birmingham. This expansion resulted in a joint partnership with Gil Brandon, Jr. in 1996. One year later, Auto-San was formed and immediately expanded into the Dallas/Ft. Worth and Little Rock markets.

With the increasing success of a business that once operated from Doggett’s basement, Auto-San relocated their thriving business to 745 Corrine St. occupying 12,600 square feet.

“North Memphis Industrial Park was the logical choice,” said Ray Helton, regional manager of Auto-San, Inc. “Our business has grown dynamically during the past six years and the expansion into several markets demanded that we locate in an area that is con-venient to all forms of transportation - - expressway, rail and air.”

In 1998, Auto-San, Inc. was awarded a patent for its unique fragrance delivery system. Today, it manufacturers more than 50,000 automatic drip machines per year.

“Another perk to locating in North Memphis Industrial Park is the convenience to its main supplier, Precision Plastics,” says John Doggett, principal of Auto-San, Inc. “Precision Plastics molds the machines and sends them to us to assemble, which dramatically reduces the amount of time it takes for us to get the finished product to the customer.”

During the past few years, Auto-San has implemented numerous expansion methods that will ensure quality service and long-term company health. Auto-San now has operations from Texas to North Carolina and anticipates reaching the Midwest and East Coast markets during 2000.
