Belz Factory Outlet World - Las Vegas Hosts “Nevada Walks For Strong Bones 2000”

Las Vegas, NV (January 7, 2000) -- To increase awareness among Nevada citizens of osteoporosis, a preventable and treatable disease that makes bones fragile and more likely to break, Belz Factory Outlet World - Las Vegas will host the first annual Nevada Walks for Strong Bones 2000 on Saturday, January 15th. The event consists of a one-mile walk from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the mall’s parking lot and a health and fitness festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. throughout the mall. Over 50 community organizations will be on hand to provide information about the products, resources and services they offer. Shoppers may also have an on-site osteoporosis bone density screening performed for a nominal fee.

According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, osteoporosis will affect one out of two women and one out of eight men during their lifetime. A total of 28 million Americans are at risk of having osteoporosis.

“We encourage all Nevada citizens to take advantage of the testing and resources available at the event,” says Andrew J. Groveman, President of the Factory Outlet Division of Belz Enterprises.

All funds raised will benefit the National Osteoporosis Foundation/Silver State Support Group in Nevada. The money is used to increase awareness and education, provide testing, hold fairs, publish newsletters and fund support groups for those with osteoporosis. The fundraiser is being held in conjunction with the National Osteoporosis Foundation’s America Walks for Strong Women® taking place in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Miami, Nashville, San Diego and Washington, D.C.
