Belz Factory Outlet World Brings "SICO" The Robot To Visit The Children At The University Medical Center
Robot Will Also Visit Shoppers at Belz Factory Outlet World Las Vegas
Memphis, Tenn. (May 14, 2001) Belz Factory Outlet World will bring SICO (pronounced SE-CO), the world's only robot who has a membership in the Screen Actor's Guild and his own personalized American Express Platinum credit card, to The University Medical Center's Trauma and Children's Center, located at 1800 West Charleston Boulevard in Las Vegas. SICO will visit individual children's rooms to brighten their days with humor and enthusiasm from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, May 19th.
Later that same day, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., SICO will perform at Belz Factory Outlet World Las Vegas, where shoppers can personally meet and interact with him. Shoppers are invited to bring their cameras to take a picture with SICO as a souvenir.
SICO will also attend the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) convention on Monday, May 20th. He may be found at the Belz Enterprises booth at 1252 Twelfth Street on the following dates: Monday, May 20th from 9 a.m. Ð 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 21st from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Wednesday, May 22nd from 9 a.m. Ð 5 p.m.
A product of International Robotics, Inc., SICO possesses the most sophisticated robot communication technology in the world. Due to a new technology called a "microprocessor controlled guidance system," SICO can respond "spontaneously" to conversation, seemingly without assistance from any operators. With his ability to adjust his speech, mannerism and behavior to fit any age, social level or environment, SICO creates a tremendous impact wherever he goes.
SICO stands six feet tall and has a sleek, well-animated body for a very life-like presentation. He speaks up to seven languages, serves food and drinks, and even dances talents that have landed SICO appearances on numerous television shows, including the NBC soap opera "Days of Our Lives," where he was a cast member for over a year and won a Special Performance Award. He also appeared in the movie "Rocky IV," ABC's "Walt Disney E.P.C.O.T. Special" and NBC's "Benson" series. He has even performed in a music video with singer Carly Simon and accompanied James Brown on his world concert tour. To top all of this off, SICO recently gave a command performance at The White House.
"For several years now, Belz has brought SICO to a Las Vegas children's hospital, where his charismatic personality has brought smiles to the faces of children both big and small," says Andrew J. Groveman, President of the Belz Factory Outlet Division. "It gives us great pleasure do so again, and in the process give shoppers at Belz Factory Outlet World Las Vegas the opportunity to meet SICO as well."
