CALENDAR LISTING

100 OAKS MALL PROMOTES
CAR THEFT PREVENTION
WITH "WATCH YOUR CAR" AND "VIN"

WHO:

Belz Factory Outlet World – 100 Oaks Mall, Nashville

WHAT:

100 Oaks Mall will host "Watch Your Car" and "VIN", two events sponsored by the Metro Police Department and the Tennessee Safety Department, as a joint anti car theft prevention program. Both programs are free of charge and each takes approximately five minutes to sign up.

Watch Your Car - The program is geared toward drivers that do not drive late at night. A decal is placed the vehicle granting the police authority to stop the car and ask the driver for identification, between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. If the driver is not the owner of the car, the police contact the owner to ask if the driver has permission to be driving the vehicle.

VIN- The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a 17-digit code on the small metal plate located on the lower left corner of the windshield. This metal plate is often removed by thieves to make it harder for police to identify a stolen vehicle. The VIN Program uses a laser pen to etch the vehicle's VIN onto the car windows, preventing the permanent removal of the identification number.
