MEMPHIS, Tenn., Monday, March 25, 2002 – The sparks from the fun and excitement being generated by the crown jewel of downtown's renaissance and redevelopment, the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center, are shining so bright you may need to wear shades. In which case, you'd be in luck, as Sunglass Hut has recently joined the list of trendy retailers, eateries and entertainment venues to come to downtown with the Entertainment and Retail Center.

The nearly 1,200-square-foot Sunglass Hut at the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center features more than 1,000 pairs of sunglasses in hip, hot and happening styles by makers ranging from Ray-Ban to Oakley to Gucci and even the Nike-Mojo brand sunglasses worn by Olympic Gold Medalist Apollo Anton Ohno.

The store, located at the east end of the lower level of the Entertainment and Retail Center just inside the grand staircase off Third Street, has also added watches to its product line offering brands such as Fossil and Kenneth Cole, according to Sunglass Hut's Regional Manager Stephanie Edwards.

Edwards noted Sunglass Hut operates a little differently from most retailers, appealing primarily to business people and tourists. Locating a store in the Entertainment and Retail Center fit the company’s marketing niche. Opening just a few weeks ago, Edwards said, "Business has been great!"
