OPENING AT PEABODY PLACE ENTERTAINMENT AND RETAIL CENTER


MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 15, 2001 – Entertainment icon and culinary "Chef" Isaac Hayes is bringing his Music • Food • Passion to Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center. Partnering with Famous Dave’s Legendary Barbecue and Lifestyle Ventures, Hayes is combining the best elements of music and dining excellence inside one "smokin'" venue.

This new 15,000-square-foot food and entertainment showcase will feature Isaac Hayes' signature dishes (he has written two cookbooks) along with Famous Dave's award winning barbecue. The wide range of southern delicacies for lunch and dinner will blend with live entertainment on stage every night!

The legendary Hayes along with a host of his entertainment friends will be performing at this signature club which is scheduled to open in late summer.

Famous Dave's is legendary for having America's best pit masters, winning more than 100 awards including the "Best Ribs In America" at the 2000 Great American Rib Cookoff in Cleveland, Ohio.

"This new concept brings together the music/entertainment industry and restaurant community in what is sure to become a precedent setting venue. Isaac's prolific musical talent and affection for great food will be experienced in every aspect of the concept," stated Martin O'Dowd, President and CEO of Famous Dave's.

Lunch and dinner will be served daily, and visitors can enjoy a variety of live entertainment. A collaborative venture, the restaurant will be managed by Minneapolis, Minn.-based Famous Dave's, which will also provide catering and its signature service for tour groups or private functions.

Isaac Hayes Music • Food • Passion, along with Famous Dave's Legendary Barbecue and Memphis-based Lifestyle Ventures opened their first restaurant June 1st in Chicago. Lifestyle Ventures conceived and developed the concept for these restaurant and entertainment venues.
Isaac Hayes was the first African-American to receive an Oscar for Best Musical Score and to have an album certified "Platinum." Hayes is perhaps best known for his "Theme From Shaft" which won him a Golden Globe, Grammy, the NAACP Image Award, in addition to an Edison Award, the highest award for music in Europe. He is currently the voice of "Chef" on cable TV's "South Park."
