PEABODY PLACE ENTERTAINMENT AND RETAIL CENTER FEATURES UNIQUE H2 OASIS WATER MASSAGE

MEMPHIS, Tenn., (Wednesday, October 2, 2002) Ñ H2 Oasis, which opened in Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center in downtown Memphis in August, is an aqua massage establishment located on the lower level next to Jillian’s and under the escalators.

Owned by Velma and Irvin Bobo, the Peabody Place H2 Oasis features two beds and is often so busy the employees have to take names and schedule treatments.

Velma Bobo fell in love with her first aqua massage on a visit to Las Vegas. The Bobos had been researching business ideas that didn't require a large investment in inventory. "We agreed the aqua massage was an exciting possibility and contacted the manufacturer, AMI of Groton, Connecticut," Velma Bobo said.

AMI has manufactured the beds, which cost $30,000 each for delivery and setup, since 1990. They are generally located in kiosks at malls.

"Many believe the aqua massage is better than a traditional massage," said Velma Bobo. "You remain fully clothed and dry during the warm water massage, and it can cover the full length of your body or concentrate on specific areas."

Aqua massage sessions range in cost from $10 to $30 and last from seven to 25 minutes while the customer enjoys a choice of music through headphones. H2 Oasis hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 12 noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Massage-related products like oils, a massage hairbrush, and a massage bath ball are also available.
