A Walk Through Festival Bay at International Drive

Festival Bay at International Drive, Belz Enterprises' 1.1 million-square-foot lifestyle entertainment and retail complex located on International Drive in the heart of the Orlando tourist district, has been designed to bring all that is uniquely Florida - and Caribbean - together in one destination shopping center.

"The concept of Festival Bay at International Drive is to make shopping a fun, relaxing and entertaining experience for adults and children alike," said Andrew J. Groveman, senior vice president, Belz Enterprises. "We believe Festival Bay at International Drive will further strengthen our ability to capture the 38 million-people-strong annual tourist market in Orlando and provide a refreshing shopping experience for those who already enjoy the Florida lifestyle on a daily basis."

With a created waterfront serving as the focal point of Festival Bay at International Drive, a series of interconnected walkways and plazas form districts that blend the eclectic qualities of the Florida lifestyle - primarily focusing on marine life - with the lush landscaping and plebeian architecture of the Caribbean.

Color and specific graphics are the key items that differentiate the various sectors of Festival Bay at International Drive. When shoppers move through the complex from the Crescent Promenade, an elliptical-shaped garden path, to Shell Plaza, a shopping area located further away from the waterfront, they will gradually notice a change in color scheme from cool jewel tones near the water to a warmer mosaic in the plaza. The style of the buildings will also gradually change depending on a shopper's point of reference. Close to the waterfront, the buildings are more reflective of an actual outdoor waterfront, complete with porches, arcades, pavilions and floating docks for dining. Further away from the water, the storefronts and facades take on a more structured feel through the use of wood planks, poles, shutters and corrugated metal –materials similar to those used to construct buildings in the Caribbean.

The type of tenant in specific sectors of Festival Bay at International Drive will complement the area's overall theme. Cinemark, which opened in December 1999, is situated within the area of Festival Bay at International Drive known as The Marketplace. Surrounded by other entertainment industry tenants, this area features several kiosks and sidewalk cafes. Bass Pro, on the other hand, is housed within the Wilderness Pavilion, an ideal locale for a leading outdoor enthusiast's store. The Wilderness Pavilion features a mountain stream within a naturalized landscaped setting. Another key tenant, Vans Skatepark, will anchor Lifestyle Plaza, an interactive space incorporating multiple amenities for amusement.

Festival Bay at International Drive will be Orlando's top tourist and local destination for shopping and entertainment.
