Key Tenants Sign at Belz Factory
"From the start, we were confident that our pre-leasing efforts would be quite successful," says Andrew J. Groveman, president of Belz Factory Outlet division. "With its vibrant economy, 3.8 million residents and four million tourists that spend about $1.7 billion annually, this is a location that the tenants themselves have long sought to be in. But, until our development of Belz Factory Outlet World - Puerto Rico, designer and manufacturer outlet tenants have not had an appropriate venue to open an outlet. For the very first time, we are bringing together the most desirable brand name clothing, household and recreational outlet stores to Puerto Rico under one roof." The 315,000-square-foot Belz Factory Outlet World - Puerto Rico will be strategically located on the east side of San Juan, the most populated city in Puerto Rico and the island's key tourist destination, in an area called Canovanas, at the intersection of PR-3 and the new Highway 66. Belz will feature, for the first time in an outlet mall, a multiplex movie thea- ter with stadium-style seating and a rainforest-themed food court with its own water feature. Shopping at Belz Factory Outlet World - Puerto Rico will allow shoppers to experience strolling through the cobblestone streets of romantic Old San Juan. A trip through the entire mall will replicate a walk through Old San Juan from dawn to dusk since the design of the five interconnected buildings that comprise the mall utilizes subtle lighting and color scheme changes that gradually create a day-to-night atmosphere. Elements that reinforce the street-scape theme include store facades resembling buildings in the world-famous historic district and faux streetlamps. For fun and relaxation at the mall, a jungle-themed carousel in a lushly landscaped pavilion flooded with light from overhead windows will provide entertainment, while a village square with colorful park benches and a floral landscape featuring palm canopies will create a tranquil place for weary shoppers to rest. Belz Enterprises has enjoyed tremendous success with other
factory outlet centers located in heavily trafficked tourist areas like
Orlando and Las Vegas and anticipates similar prosperity when Belz Factory
