John Ellis Named Special Projects Director

BelzEnterprises has named John Ellis to the newly created position of Special Projects Director for the company. Formerly vice president of the Belz Factory Outlet World Leasing Division, John will continue to provide assistance to the company’s outlet division while becoming involved in other projects within the company’s portfolio.

"Since joining Belz Enterprises over 23 years ago, John has proven to be an invaluable asset to our Factory Outlet Division’s growth," said Andrew J. Groveman, president of Belz’s Factory Outlet Division. "His leadership, vision, and devotion have enormously benefited not only our company, but also the factory outlet industry as a whole."

Known affectionately as the "Mayor of the Outlet Industry," in 1979 John was instrumental in Belz’s efforts to open the nation’s first newly constructed factory outlet mall in Lakeland, Tennessee.

Ellis was founder and president of the Developers of Outlet Centers U.S.A. (DOC) and served on Value Retail News’ Advisory Board from 1990-1994. Among his numerous industry awards are the VRN Founders Award and the DOC’s Founders and Leadership Award, both received in 1992. He has also served as a lecturer and contributing writer for many industry publications.
