Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center Celebrates Two-Year Anniversary

Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center, the heart of Downtown Memphis, began its second anniversary celebration on September 22 with a weeklong series of fun and entertainment for all ages.

"Peabody Place has become the centerpiece for Downtown Memphis," said Andrew J. Groveman, senior vice president of Belz. "With unique shopping and entertainment opportunities, there's really something here for the whole family. This celebration was a great chance for Memphians and visitors to see everything the revitalized downtown area has to offer."

The week's festivities began with a kickoff breakfast for city dignitaries, hosted by Jack Belz, chairman and CEO of Belz, at Puccini and Pasta followed by a special feature on CBS's local morning show Live at 9.

At noon on Monday, a parade led by a group of magicians, clowns, mascots and bands headed down Main Street to the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center for a special birthday cake cutting ceremony with downtown business leaders.

Activities centered at lunch and dinner time were part of the weeklong celebration, and gave visitors of all ages a chance to celebrate the center's anniversary. Magicians, clowns, and stilt walkers entertained patrons during the lunch hour. Popular local bands entertained visitors at dinnertime.
